About me

Most of the clients I interact with have some form of anxiety and low self-esteem. Their anxiety  can manifest itself in a number of different ways, and I have seen them all.

Some people minimise their interactions with others, avoid certain scenarios, or pretend to engage but cancel out at the last minute. Others are confrontational, argumentative and can often be described as difficult.

As a psychotherapist and coach I see beyond the behaviours, and look to help you, help yourself. I have had a lot of success with this.

I have worked for the Emergency Services (Police and NHS) for over 25 years and have extensive experience in supporting clients who have been directly or indirectly involved with trauma, including PTSD.

I also volunteer at a local Mental Health Charity where I see clients and occasionally co-deliver their therapeutic courses.

I am a qualified High Conflict Coach and work with clients involved in custody cases around the UK.

I run my own private practice from my home address in Tranent and can see you there or we can conduct sessions over a confidential secure online platform.

I provide short and long term therapy for clients aged 16+  and will tailor my therapeutic approach to best suit your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered Psychotherapist with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, fully insured, PVG holder and registered with the Information Commissioners Office.

I hold a MSc from Strathclyde in Psychotherapy and Counselling, and have completed a variety of other courses around Domestic Abuse (Teesside University), Counselling Skills (COSCA), Trauma Risk Management (TRiM), Diploma in Couple and Family Therapy (Centre of Excellence), Addiction Therapy Diploma (Centre of Excellence), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma (Centre of Excellence) and several others. I am also a High Conflict coach and work with clients involved in custody disputes around the UK.

I have 25 years+ of hands on experience of dealing and supporting others in times of crisis.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
