About me

Overwhelming anxiety, debilitating panic attacks, struggling to get through the day - these all too real problems could incapacitate us and hinder our ability to function. Coming to therapy with me can help you deal with the challenges that life places in your path.

Life is an inexplicable puzzle. When you feel that you got a grip on it and can handle anything that it can throw on you, it is then that you could also realise how vulnerable and susceptible you are. Going to therapy can help you explore how you respond to your relationships, remember who you are, what you actually want, and what choices you need to make to embrace the whole range of life’s experiences without losing your balance. Existential challenges can open the door to our inner scenery and reveal to us some fundamental truths that life is a paradox and a mystery and each one of us makes sense of it in their own way by writing our own scenarios.

I am an existential psychotherapist and counsellor offering therapy to individuals, couples and groups. My practice is a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment currently online.  I offer therapy sessions in both English and Greek. I have been practising psychotherapy and counselling for the past 20 years and offering support and assistance to clients in exploring their relationships and becoming aware of their assumptions so as to make better sense of their experiences.

As a psychotherapist/counsellor, I work together with each client with the aim to enhance understanding and the development of insight. You choose what you want to disclose and the degree to which you use this insight to make any changes to your life.
Psychotherapy and counselling can be a very powerful way of addressing the underlying issues in your life that may be causing distress. It is a serious commitment that can lead to significant improvements and enhance your life so that to live it more fully.

I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with:

  • Anxiety/Stress
  • Depression
  • Relationship Problems
  • Anger issues
  • Panic Attacks
  • Addictions - Alcohol / Drugs / Sex / Gambling
  • PTSD
  • Eating Disorders

How Does Psychotherapy Work?

Psychotherapy and counselling can help people to resolve problems through an exploration of underlying issues thereby enabling them to live life to its full potential. But what is more, counselling and psychotherapy may be able to help people to make the changes in their lives that they consider necessary in order to have a rewarding future. It is when things are not working well for us that we realise that we may need assistance and support to gather our thoughts, find the courage to make important decisions, become aware of the hidden factors of given situations. It is possible for life struggles to be turned into golden opportunities to explore the most fundamental aspects of our existence regarding who we believe we are and what is meaningful in our lives, how we are living our lives and what could be missing.

As a therapist, my task is to assist my clients to explore their concerns and challenge those problematic views that underpin the presenting difficulties. By meeting regularly, you, the client, will talk about the pressures and stresses that problematic situations in your life bring and I, as your therapist, will listen, ask questions and make some observations. In this way, you would be able to make sense of what is actually happening in your life and how you relate to others, choose the changes you may want to make in your life and increase your sense of personal control that will enable you to move forward positively towards achieving a better balance.

In my experience I have seen people coming to therapy for a whole host of reasons. Establishing a safe, therapeutic relationship where clients may feel supported, understood and comfortable with, is incredibly important. Within such a frame, change becomes gradually attainable and leads to a more contented and fulfilled life.

Training, qualifications & experience

Existential Psychotherapy

My approach to clinical practice is Existential Therapy.
Existential therapy looks at unhelpful assumptions with the aim of making us aware of our attitudes and intentions. It is about coming to terms with existence, about taking responsibility and about creating meaning for ourselves.

All of us at some point in our lives may become overwhelmed with our own particular and unique struggles. Existential thought takes the human condition as the focus of investigation and therapy focuses on the uniqueness of each individual's particular experience. Through the therapeutic relationship, existential practice creates an opportunity for clients to become aware of the challenges they are confronted with and thus re-evaluate their choices and paths in overcoming life’s emotional difficulties.

I have been trained as an Existential Psychotherapist and I hold an MA and an Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy. I am registered with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am a member of British Psychological Society (BPS) and Society of Existential Analysis (SEA).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • M.A. in Psychotherapy and Counselling, Regent’s College, (City University)
  • Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling, Regent’s College
  • Professional Certificate in Existential Supervision and Group Leadership, New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling
  • BSc (Hons) in Psychology with History of Ideas, Middlesex University
  • Twenty five years experience as a psychotherapist/counsellor/senior health worker with NHS

Testimonial: "Flora was extremely helpful for me during a difficult period of my life, when I was suffering from anxiety issues. She was an understanding and thoughtful listener who enabled me to work out the causes of my anxiety. Although her approach was focused on helping me work out what was going wrong and what I wanted from my life, she also offered useful and insightful advice which helped me deal with various problems. Overall, I am in a much better state of mind as a result of working with Flora, and I would recommend her to anyone going through a difficult period, or suffering from issues such as anxiety or depression."
