About me

My practice is in Cambridge.  I offer a safe and confidential space to reflect on your issues.  I can help you with issues related to anxiety and depression.

Many people find talking about their problems difficult.  We do not want to burden families and friends with our problems or perhaps fear criticism for not managing life better.  Emotional or psychological issues can also awaken feelings of shame and embarrassment.  However, avoiding help leads to loneliness and a sense of being stuck.

What to Expect from Counselling: Counselling opens up a special space in your life for you to be heard.  You and I engage with your internal/emotional world in our sessions.  We talk about your childhood and the emotional atmosphere you grew up in.  I also pay specific attention to our therapeutic relationship.  This is a very important part of the counselling process because it helps us unearth how your past experiences may still have a hold over you in your current relationships.  We work on building emotional trust to help you feel safe to share your feelings and emotions.

Issues related to anxiety, fear of disappointing others, not feeling worthy of love or validation, not feeling understood, bottling up feelings and emotions, fear of not being liked, wanting to fit in, fear of judgement and criticism, not feeling good enough, lack of confidence, lack of self-esteem, attachment issues with parents, feeling like a failure or you have let yourself and your family down, anger management issues, issues related to shame and guilt, lacking zest in life, difficulty in maintaining relationships, depression, eating disorders, emotional abuse, issues related to abandonment, workplace issues, cross-cultural issues, trauma, addiction, post-natal depression are some of the problems I can help you wi.  All of these issues can be understood and resolved with the help of an empathic counsellor who can engage with your feelings and emotions.

If you are considering entering therapy with me, email me, and we can arrange a 15-minute mini-session.  We then decide together whether to begin the sessions or not.  I may also refer you to a specialist if your needs are specific.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
