About me

Deciding to start therapy is a big step for many people and it is vitally important to feel safe and in good hands. Acknowledging this, I underwent several years of rigorous training at accredited institutes, and have spent over ten years working in clinical, charity and educational settings as a therapist. I offer counselling and psychotherapy for children, teenagers and adults, online and in-person. I also offer parent-work, a reflective space focused on the parent-child relationship.

I agree that the therapeutic alliance is central to the activation of change in individuals. We will work together to create a safe environment and an approach that meets your needs, focusing on what you want to gain from therapy. My skills are integrative, and a psychodynamic framework informs my thinking. I am also trained in the facilitation of the arts in therapy. Young people, children and adults who find non-verbal communication helpful, are welcome to use the arts and play alongside taking therapy.

When you come into my counselling room, you can expect warmth, empathy and compassion; a safe and confidential space to contain, work-through and challenge issues that are having a detrimental impact on your life; and if you are a parent, all the above in the context of your child’s life and relationships.

Training, qualifications & experience

Before opening this practice, a large portion of my work took place in schools, including managing several school-based therapy services and providing supervision to trained and trainee therapists. Most recently, I've worked in a specialist NHS service, supporting survivors of acute and historic sexual abuse.

As a result of my work, I now specialise in several clinical areas, these include:

Sexual violence (including pre-trial cases); Trauma recovery; Children & young-people; General Counselling.

I hold the following:

  • Masters of Science (MSc) in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents, from Birkbeck College, University of London - Distinction.
  • Advanced Postgraduate Certificate in The Therapeutic Arts, from The Institute for Arts in Therapy & Education (IATE), validated by the University of East London.

In the near future, I will be completing a Level 6 Qualification in Clinical Supervision, (ending in October 2024). I also complete annual continued professional development (CPD) training in order to maintain my professional registration and keep my skills sharp and my practice up-to-date.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
