About me

I work with a wide range of people suffering with Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder or Depression.  You, like them, may feel under-supported, isolated or traumatised; lonely, very ill; without a diagnosis; trapped by addictive behaviour or simply not able to talk openly with family or friends.

We can work as equals, to break the overwhelming into manageable pieces. Being able to tell the tale of your experiences, however damaging, shaming, broken, sad, confusing and unfair.  You could also use this as an opportunity to practice phrasing what you need.  How would it feel to understand your social anxiety  or to express yourself at home, at work and recreationally?

With first-hand or family experience, I support clients with the physical and emotional pain of M.E/CFS; Addiction, and Low Self-esteem; racial/cultural discrimination and those who identify as non-typical.

Men, suffer disability, intolerances, isolation, disturbed sleeping/eating, depression, chronic/acute anxiety, mania, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and relationship difficulties, often alone. I urge you to get in touch.  There is little to lose and I can normalise and ease all this.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I work to Carl Rogers' 3 Qualities for good counselling/mentoring:  Congruence (I will be my genuine and real self);  Unconditional Positive Regard, (this means accepting of you and caring about you no matter what you feel about yourself and how you feel about others' view of you); Empathic Understanding, (I keep checking in with you to make sure I accurately grasp what has happened or is happening in your world, as you see it).

It may be the first time you reflect and talk on 'how things got to this.'

We fall in step with each other for a little while so you can de-pressure; look in from outside the situation.   I offer consistent and predictable in an unpredictable, sometimes difficult world.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I have worked with deaf/hard of hearing, Learning Disability/Language Difficulty, brain-injured, blind, voice-loss including via an external voice box, ADHD, Autism, M.E. (sometimes generalised C.F.S).
