About me

What can I offer you? A warm, empathic approach, where you can experience the unique connection of a therapeutic relationship. I am a Person-Centred Counsellor, which means I work alongside you exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences to help you to be able to process, make sense of things, and find some possible ways forwards. Whatever you would like to work on will be guided by you; whether that be feelings around anxiety, depression, or wanting to work on something from your past or an area of personal development, or so many other possibilities.

The decision to look for a counsellor or therapist can be one that’s been thought about for some time; or as a result of significant change, a feeling that something isn’t quite right; wanting to work through something or find a new way forward;, or for a multitude of other reasons.

Like most things, it can feel like a step into the unknown, which can be unnerving at times, but can also bring the possibility of great rewards.

I offer a non-judgemental space, with an aim for you to understand yourself better; build trust in yourself and possibly view things in your life in a different way or with an altered perspective. We will talk about what goals you have for therapy and can work in an open ended way, which means sessions can continue for as long as you feel you want them too. I will be guided by you.

We will review our work regularly as a check in to see how things are going for you. I have a background which includes lots of work around family relationships, which may be helpful during our work together.

In addition to my Private Practice work, I work as a voluntary counsellor for Off the Record Counselling,  based in Norwich. I completed my student placement at Mind Low Cost Counselling service and worked there as a voluntary counselling for 2.5 years in total. I worked part time for an NHS Trust as a Resilience and Emotional Health Practitioner, for almost 4 years, working in the Emotional Health pathway with Children and Young People aged 5 – 18 and their families. I now work part time as a counsellor within a local hospice setting, working around bereavement, living with life limiting illnesses and those with caring responsibilities.

I am fully insured and qualified with a Post Graduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, with my studies completed at the Norwich Centre. I also hold a Level 2 qualification from the Association of Psychological Therapies in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
