About me

Hello, my name is Claire and I am a BACP qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in the East of London and on the Essex and Hertfordshire borders, offering online and face to face therapy.

My practice is grounded in a person-centred and integrative approach, recognising that you are the expert in your own life story. I believe in creating a safe, therapeutic and non-judgemental environment where I will listen and together, we can explore and learn more about you.  I bring a tool kit of knowledge, therapies and idea's which we can integrate into the sessions to help further develop insight, understanding and work towards whatever you are seeking.

I offer counselling to clients with a wide variety of issues and concerns (like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, exploring gender, LGBTQ+, increasing self-awareness, cultural identity, life challenges, relationship issues, life changing experiences, trauma, bereavement, grief, loss, death of a loved pet and many others). Some clients just want the time and safe space to be listened to and explore their thoughts and feelings, as you don't need a specific problem or issue to benefit from counselling or psychotherapy.

I have many years of experience working with clients and their families dealing with cancer and life-threatening diseases from diagnosis onwards.  From these interactions and personal experience, I have an understanding of the depth and breadth of the impact this may have on relationships and the mental health of all who are involved. I specialise it counselling clients with cancer or other life threatening or changing illness.

I continue as a volunteer counsellor at St Clare’s Hospice near Harlow and also offer grief counselling and bereavement counselling within my private practice.

I am passionate about helping people talk about difficult things, gain insights and make more sense of their personal experiences of life - with the aim that this will move them towards a better emotional well-being.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist (MBACP 400187) having gained a distinction in the BACP recognised post graduate diploma course at the University of East London.

I have worked as a volunteer student counsellor for MIND and currently as a volunteer counsellor with St Clare’s Hospice, near Harlow.

Additional qualifications:

  • CRUSE bereavement is normal course
  • BSc. (Hons) in Applied Biology
  • MSc. in Palliative care
  • NMC. Registered General Nurse
  • Nurse specialist in breast and cancer care.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
