About me
Would you like your therapy to be a meeting of adults, where your thoughts and behaviours are not dismissed as wrong or faulty?
I offer a safe and confidential environment to allow you to talk openly and honestly, free of judgement to explore issues that you are experiencing and to help you adapt and cope with the things that life can throw at you. Amongst other things, I can work with you to:
- Find hope, optimism and a path to happiness and fulfilment.
- Find out what has been holding you back if this isn’t already known.
- Find out how to move on and really begin to heal from past issues and traumas.
- Find out how to begin to love and trust yourself to make the right decisions.
- Help you to manage unwanted thoughts and feelings.
- Help you develop strategies necessary for you to deal with the inevitable stresses and life events that will challenge you on you path through life.
About the service that I offer
I am an experienced Person-Centred Counsellor which means that I believe that there is only one expert on you, and that is yourself. I will work closely with you to find a unique solution tailored just for you, that helps you to achieve your desired results. I also have training and experiences outside of the Person-Centred approach which give me access to tools and techniques which I can call upon to assist you in find a way forward if necessary.
I have a great deal of experience working with people with all manner of issues but have a particular strength in working with individuals that have
- Neurodiversity (eg Autism or Asperger's)
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Suicidal thoughts
- Suffer from abuse
- Issues with addiction
- Bereavement
- Suffer from trauma including PTSD and complex PTSD
and more.
I addition to this I am also able to offer couples and relationship counselling.

- MHFA
- Suicide Bereavement training
- Anger management training
I am very experienced in working with and have lived experience of Neurodiversity
In addition to the above qualifications, I also have experience of working with Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Exposure Therapy from which I can draw on to provide additional tools as required by my clients.
I have gained a great deal of experience over many years working with the charities Man Down, Pegasus - Men's Wellbeing Centre and Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

The first assessment session will be free. This is so that I can get a basic understanding of your needs and we can get to know each other and establish if I am the right counsellor for you.
