About me

Cathy Stones Counselling – providing individual counselling to adults and young people in the Lincoln and Louth area.

My Counselling Practice is based on a Person-Centred approach. I know that with the right support the power to heal is already within you. By listening and understanding, providing a safe, caring environment, I aim for us to build a relationship where we can both get to know who you really are.

I believe that emotional support ‘should’ be available to everyone, so I offer flexibility in the therapies I offer. Drawing from a range of counselling theories, including CBT, Transactional Analysis and Creative Therapy, incorporating a variety of tools, techniques, and a little imagination, your therapeutic journey will become tailor made to suit your own brand of uniqueness.

You can choose from Face-To-Face Counselling in Lincoln and Louth, Online Therapy, and Telephone Counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified with a Level 4 Counselling Diploma, along with Diplomas for Creative Therapy Intervention and Working With Young People and Families. Further areas include Complex Trauma, Transactional Analysis, and Attachment Theory.

My training has given me a solid foundation to work from, an understanding of and ability to incorporate the following Theories and their Models, tools and techniques;

  • Psychodynamic Theory (Freud)
  • The Transpersonal Approach (Jung)
  • Behavioural Theory (Conditioning & The Nervous System)
  • Person Centred Theory
  • Cognitive Theory (REBT & CBT)
  • Child Development & Attachment Theory
  • Transactional Analysis (TA)
  • Grief & Loss
  • Group Therapy (Dynamics)
  • Trauma & The Rewind Technique
  • Creative Art & Guided Imagery Therapy

Working Privately and in a GP Surgery has provided me with a wealth of experience of working with adults, young people and children.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

It really does take courage and strength to take that first step into therapy. Building healthy relationships and boundaries are key to creating a positive experience on this journey.
