About me

Selecting a counsellor can be a daunting task, at a time when you feel vulnerable. It is a courageous and empowering decision.  Emotional struggle and difficulty with mental health can happen at any time and for many reasons. During these times you can feel lost, empty, lonely, or despairing. Whatever issues you are facing, I can show you compassion. I aim to provide you with a safe, accepting space, where emotions can be openly spoken, supported, and valued. I believe that we all possess the understanding of what we need for personal fulfilment, however, at times can need support to move forward, I can offer you that support.

My work is based on a person-centred approach. Simply, this means that I support clients while they explore their experience of life, and identify feelings, attitudes and behaviours which cause difficulty. The process inspires change and growth, with positive effects on independence, decision-making and relationships. I will adapt my approach to suit your needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I welcome all queries during a free 15-minute call, following which you can book an assessment session. During assessment I will develop an understanding of the issues you are bringing to therapy, and discuss your aims and expectations; and you can get a feel of whether you want to work with me. We could then book sessions to suit your requirements.

Essentially, I will support you to make decisions about your therapy that feel right for you.
