About me

Hi, my name is Carla and I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, obtained from the highly esteemed Sherwood Institute. I have a passion for supporting each individual’s unique journey to achieve their full potential by providing a confidential space to reflect and reassess.

I offer regular long or short term therapy sessions at my home in Diseworth. This is a comfortable and safe space where we can work confidentially together to address your issues. I also offer remote sessions via MS Teams or telephone.

In exceptional circumstances, or when mobility is an issue I can offer regular long or short term therapy sessions at your location i.e Home/Hospice/Hospital/Care home.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have supported both adolescents and adults to gain a stronger understanding of their own emotional wellbeing. Currently, alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor/psychotherapist in a hospice facility helping both patients and their families with a particular focus on grief management.

I have worked within education, private practice and the public service environment. I am also trained in ACT therapy (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) useful for individuals who are facing life limiting illnesses such as cancer or life altering changes or disabilities. I am currently part of a research trial using ACT for MND (Motor Neurone Disease).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My approach as a psychotherapist is built around my personal belief that every individual has a unique road that has led them to need support to overcome barriers in the way of reaching their full potential. I am passionate and committed to helping people and continuously adapting my practice to suit your needs and working together to ensure positive change and self-growth.

Therapy is most effective when the relationship between yourself and your psychotherapist is valued, which is why I focus on this relationship. Working together we will aim to unpick your thoughts and beliefs in order to reflect and understand how to make positive changes and empower yourself.
