About me

It’s a beautiful, but very complicated thing, to be a human.

There are many difficulties we encounter throughout our lives that can leave us feeling overwhelmed or in distress, wishing we could turn to someone for help – and yet so often, we feel as though we must push that desire away. We believe there is no time to deal with the pain or confusion that has emerged. Maybe we are even afraid of what will happen when we really open up. Showing our true selves to another can feel like a dangerous unknown. It takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help, to commit the time and energy to your own self-care and healing. Whatever has brought you to this space today, taking these first steps is a huge achievement.

Training, qualifications & experience

My name is Becky, and I am a dedicated and compassionate integrative relational counsellor with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life's many challenges.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic principles, placing great emphasis on the inherent worth and capacity for growth within each individual. I believe that every person has the ability to heal and thrive when provided with a safe and non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts and feelings. In either online or face-to-face sessions, I therefore aim to provide a warm and empathetic environment where we can explore your experiences at whatever pace you are comfortable with.

I approach my work in both an LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming way and am a trauma informed practitioner, working with you to ensure you have the tools to safely manage your emotions both inside and outside of sessions. I have spent the last several years working at The Swan Project, helping individuals struggling with alcohol and other substances – and I bring to this work my own experience of recovery.

I believe in a holistic approach to counselling, which means I am open to exploring all parts of self – from the physical and mental, to the emotional and spiritual.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
