About me

Taking the first step

Life can be challenging & feel overwhelming. It can be unpredictable, uncertain and throw us off balance. Sometimes, talking to friends or family isn’t an option & we don’t often prioritise our self-care. If you’re reading this now, you are realising your need to focus on doing what’s right by you & taking care of yourself. Whatever your fears, anxiety, anger, pain, sadness or personal challenges, therapy will help you to heal & move forward. Central to my therapeutic approach is to help you bring to the surface the answers & solutions that exist within you. By gently stimulating your curiosity & increasing your self-awareness, it will help you embrace change.

A little about me and How I can help

I am a MBACP and MNCS (accred) psychotherapist & counsellor and I work in a predominantly psychodynamic way whilst incorporating various other techniques and theories to offer a more integrative approach, recognising that every client and their needs are unique to them. We can explore your concerns in the here & now but we may also journey into your past experiences and your childhood to explore what might be affecting your present-day world and understand how those experiences inform who you are today. Together we will create a relationship where trust, openness & acceptance are key to your better understanding of self

Making the right decision

It’s not easy making the decision to have therapy. Just picking up the phone may feel like a challenge in itself. Perhaps you worry that taking this journey might be too painful, that it’ll evoked unbearable feelings or that no-one can understand what you’re going through. Dealing with it alone can be draining & too much to cope with.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Together, we will reignite your inner strength, increase your resilience and journey towards a happier, more positive and more empowered self.

Would you like to know more?

Why not make that first step and call or email me. We can have a brief chat about your concerns and what you hope to gain from counselling, and then if you’re happy to continue, we can arrange an initial consultation and take it from there. The consultation is an opportunity for you to decide whether my style and approach suits you and for me to understand more about you, and what your goals and aspirations are of therapy.

Experience

I work with adults in my private practice and have also worked with children and young people in various North West London mental health services including Link Youth Counselling; Mind and Place 2 Be.

Before qualifying as a counsellor & psychotherapist, I was a Company Secretary for an independent property company and also a Business Improvement Consultant for a large corporation. In my twenty-seven year working career, my roles have always involved harnessing people’s development, drawing on their potential and strengths, and helping them achieve their personal goals. I have had the greatest opportunity and privilege to work with a wide cross section of people and I take great pride in maintaining a high level of ethical and safe practice with safeguarding and confidentiality being imperative in my work.

I firmly believe that for any successful relationship to work, at the core of it there needs to be respect and trust.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
