About me

Counselling and Interpersonal Therapy

Overwhelmed with the demands of life - Self-esteem - Abuse - Work related stress - Grief - Anxiety - Depression - Unhealthy patterns in relationships.

Abuse

Experience of abuse can have a lasting effect.  We might blame ourselves or feel we somehow attract bad things.  Abuse can leave us feeling ashamed or that we're not good enough, in some instances we find ourselves in a pattern of abusive or one sided relationships, struggling to express our needs and emotions.  We may use perfectionism or people pleasing in order to feel loved or worthy.  In order to cope with emotions we may turn to addiction to help numb the pain.  We may struggle with forming and maintaining close relationships.

Burnout

Feeling overwhelmed with the demands of our busy lives can have an impact both physically and mentally. By improving relationships we can feel understood and listened to, this type of support is vital to our wellbeing.

Life Changes

Adapting to new circumstances, such as, divorce/separation, having children, children leaving home, retirement, change in career or job loss, moving location. We can process these changes to try and adapt to new opportunities and acknowledge the experience of loss.

Grief can be complicated, we might have 'stuck' emotions such as - anger - guilt - regrets - a sense of injustice.  We need time and space to explore these emotions in order to begin the grieving process.

Interpersonal Therapy - the quality of our relationships have a huge impact on mental health. Exploring patterns in relationships we can gain awareness in how to feel more connected. Highlighting any difficulty in forming and maintaining close relationships.

Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement, Abuse, Trauma, work related stress Self-esteem.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
