About me

I’m Ali an Adlerian therapist. Sometimes in life, we can become confused and challenged and this can leave us feeling anxious or low in mood. If you want to make changes and feel brave enough to face the difficult times, I will walk alongside you to help you feel calmer and more confident. Life will start to get easier and the therapy I offer can help you to reach a deeper understanding of yourself.

It is so important to feel healthy and balanced appreciating your here and now. I will offer support and encouragement along your journey. Changes can happen in a safe environment. I am a relatable and warm therapist that provides a non-judgemental and confidential environment to put you at ease.  We explore the issues that surface in a collaborative way and set realistic goals to encourage change. The therapy is based around the areas in your life that may feel imbalanced. We work together to get you to a better place of fulfilment.

My therapy practice

I am a counsellor specialising in short- and long-term work for young people and adults. I see clients face to face in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire and I also offer online sessions.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am also a member of the Adlerian Society UK Institute for Individual Psychology (ASIIP).

More about the therapy

“Life can be different” It can be and my work follows the work of Alfred Adler as he believed that we all want to belong and feel connected to others. I am passionate about this idea and recognise that if we are struggling at work or in our relationships it can feel lonely and vulnerable. We will work together to find methods to encourage growth, balance and happiness. I am here to help you find the strengths to rebuild.

My practice and first session

I am interested in how you have experienced the world around you and this includes exploring past experiences and relationships that have shaped you. I will listen carefully and I will ask gentle and respectful questions in order to discover the strengths and resources you have.

We will build a safe and trusting relationship together so that you feel open without being judged so we can discover what might be lying underneath the issues you have brought to therapy. We will discuss what it is you want to achieve setting goals in a trusting and encouraging atmosphere.

An assessment helps me to understand what may be difficult and what changes may be possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
