About me

I am a compassionate trauma-informed integrative practitioner with my own deeply lived experience and personal journey. I live and work in central Bath. Alongside many trainings over the years, I am committed to my therapeutic practice and my own path of personal development, healing and spiritual enquiry. I’ve walked a diverse path so far through life and this has enabled me to bring understanding to working with many people. Development and practices that sustain and resource me on this journey are somatic meditation, embodied enquiry and the wisdom of the natural world.

Since qualifying as a counsellor, I have worked for ten years within organisations and charities supporting young people, young adults and adults with their emotional health and well-being. I've worked for several years as a counsellor in further education colleges, school counsellor, as the LGBT+ counsellor for a charity in Bath, for an specialist eating disorder charity counselling adults and young people and with young people and their families within the Family Counselling Trust. I now have a full time private practice in central Bath offering short and long term counselling and longer term psychotherapy.

Alongside my Person-Centred core training and Somatic Trauma Therapy, my practice has naturally gravitated to become influenced by the integration of Eastern and Western philosophies about the bodymind and selfhood. I am currently studying a 4 year in-depth psychotherapy training in Mindfulness-Based Core-Process Psychotherapy with the Karuna Institute. Core-Process Psychotherapy enquires into human experience at many different levels. There is a gentle invitation to reconnect to your deeper self, become curious about how present moment experience is arising in the body, bringing spaciousness to the bodymind and developing awareness to how things are from moment to moment. Mindfulness Based Core-Process Psychotherapy can be described as a Mindfulness based approach.

My work has enabled me to support many people of all ages from diverse social backgrounds, different cultures, working with neurodiversity and varying genders and sexualities. My previous career has been diverse allowing me to work with people from all walks of life. As a manager responsible for the co-ordination of youth work services throughout areas of Somerset, within education and charities.

As part of my 4 year Post Graduate Diploma in Mindfulness Based Core-Process Psychotherapy Training with Karuna Institute, I also offer longer term in depth psychotherapy as a Trainee Psychotherapist at £55 an hour. Please visit https://flow-therapy.co.uk/ for details.

Academic research

As modern life becomes ever more complex, it has become more prevalent to explore ways of enabling younger generations to manage the stresses that lead to many issues. My recent academic research studies through my MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice focused on designing, creating and facilitating a therapeutic programme delivered in schools called RISE (Resilience in Secondary Education). RISE enables students to develop and build their emotional resilience skills and resources to apply to their everyday lives through gaining a deeper sense of self-awareness, self-compassion and tolerance in these changing times that we live in.

Experience

My enthusiasm as a Somatic Trauma Therapist embodies the healing qualities of compassion and the wisdom of our somatic archeology involving the connections and unearthing of the stories that live within our bodies, within our psychology and our spirit. All practising Core-Process psychotherapists are expected to maintain a daily meditation practice. This helps sustain awareness and develop a resonant relational field of presence from which to pay close attention and hold clients at depth. My work is also informed through bodymind theories and practice combining somatic-based trauma therapy, compassion-focused therapy and relational mindfulness which are intrinsic to my therapeutic practice.

I believe that body and mind need to be present for healing to occur. Enabling people to find connections to their inner authenticity and wisdom so they can feel less identified with their traumatic stories, patterns and conditions and more present to their true sense of themselves.

Each therapeutic relationship is unique. My approach is creative and holistic bringing Trauma-Informed Somatic Therapy alongside my other trainings. The Core-Process Psychotherapy which is a depth relational mindfulness therapy that integrates Buddhist psychology and compassion practices with western psychotherapeutic theory, allows a depth that promotes intentional, and conscious healing. What motivates my work is that I see the potential in every client and honour the wisdom of your own inner healer. My wish is to create opportunities for you to follow your process as it unfolds and reconnect to your deeper sense of self in the present feeling less identified with patterns and disconnection in the past.

As part of my 4 year Post Graduate Diploma in Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy Training with Karuna Institute, I also offer longer term therapy as a Trainee Psychotherapist at £55. Please visit https://flow-therapy.co.uk/ for more details.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

We all desire meaningfulness in our lives and we usually seek out the healing of therapy at times when life may feel challenging, difficult, directionless or overwhelming in some way. Meaningfulness is found not only in the dramatic and the intense but also in the small, subtle moments, illuminated by a curious awareness.

Life contains setbacks and suffering which can feel painful and we may develop strategies to avoid and bypass such feelings. The process of therapy is to gently explore in the present the way we feel about ourselves and our lives and to bring embodied awareness to what obscures the inherent wholeness at our core.

Each therapeutic relationship is unique. My approach is creative and holistic bringing both trauma-informed somatic therapy and Core-Process psychotherapy together, allowing a depth that promotes intentional, and conscious healing. My aim is to create a space in which you feel able to reconnect to your deeper sense of self in the present and feel less identified with patterns and disconnection that are no longer working for you. What motivates my work is that I see the potential in every client and honour the wisdom of your own inner healer. My wish is to create opportunities for you to follow your process as it unfolds and to make the changes that you want and need in your present life.

I maintain a safe, confidential and ethical practice adhering to the BACP & UKCP Ethical Framework guidelines and GDPR. I am fully insured.

I live and work in central Bath and my private practice is conveniently located in a peaceful area in central Bath a few minutes walk from the centre. Parking is available exclusively for clients at no charge.
