About me

Are you looking for counselling because you are feeling stuck, struggling with relationships, depression, bereavement, anxiety or feeling alone?  These are a few of the most common issues that clients bring to my practice when looking for support to work on self awareness and new ways for the future.

I am a professionally trained Integrative therapeutic counsellor, offering a safe, non-judgmental space to build a trusting relationship with you, as my client. Together we would aim to explore your thoughts and feelings as I  guide you to gain awareness and understanding of current patterns of behaviours.

My model is Integrative, which means I have trained in various models of counselling, including Psychodynamic, Person centred and Solution focused models. By recognising that we are all unique I implement my skills according to my client, therefore helping you to discover new techniques to implement into your life enabling you to move away from unhelpful behaviours, reach your full potential and reconnect with your true self.

I recognise that it isn’t an easy step looking for a counsellor. So if you would like to drop me a line or call for an initial introduction at no cost, we can then discuss what your requirements and what I can offer, with no obligation.

Weekly sessions at the same time and day where possible are recommended. I also offer fortnightly sessions and one off sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Integrative therapeutic counselling.

I have worked as a volunteer counsellor in adult mental health at The Sunshine cafe and currently alongside my private practice I work under an agency with clients that are survivors of Domestic violence. Here I have experienced a multitude of topics which have covered a wide range of life experiences and trauma.

Previously I have been in a coach role supporting people to return to work who have experienced mental health issues which have held them back. Seeing the difference of how being part of a team and learning new skills and relationships at their own pace has been very rewarding which was a contributory factor into my interest in counselling and therapy.

I am a registered member of The British association of counsellors and psychotherapists.(BACP) Which is a professional body where I am bound to adhere to their ethical framework of safe practice and continuous professional development. I am also fully insured.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
