About me

I’m a UKCP and BPC registered well-qualified and experienced psychotherapist, Jungian Analyst and Clinical Supervisor working in central Brighton, BN2.

I work both short and long term and have been trained to work with individuals looking for deep change in themselves and who wish to come several times a week for psychoanalysis.

Jungian analysis prioritises understanding our unconscious processes which have a profound influence on how we live. My work focuses on dreams, our early attachments and current relationships.

You may want to change the aspects of your life that are causing you distress. Perhaps you struggle with addictive behaviours. You may be experiencing depression, anxiety or difficulties in close relationships. Depression and anxiety can almost paralyse your ability to move forward. My approach focuses on the unconscious conflicts that may be holding you back. These are often rooted in early relational trauma which only a depth perspective can unravel.

As well as more longer term work, I am able to offer a more short term approach which focuses more on a current situation. This work can last between 6 and 20 sessions and is called Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy which NICE guidelines state is effective in treating anxiety and depression when CBT hasn't been enough and this informs my focus when open ended long term work isn't possible.  Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy focuses on relationships and how working on this can help alleviate depression and anxiety. It's based on the idea that we develop ways of relating to people that can become unhelpful and looks at how to change that.

I offer sessions online if in person work is not possible.

I am an experienced supervisor.

My work is strictly confidential.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
