About me
I don't think people fit into boxes or can be reduced to labels and so I will meet with anyone regardless of how their distress manifests or what they're struggling with. I work with people to reduce their distress and achieve their potential. Over the past 20 years, I have developed an approach to therapy which is grounded in authenticity and empathy.
Approach
I can work with people experiencing relationship challenges, anxiety, low mood, psychosis and those with a history of trauma. I am creative, reflective and flexible in my work. I believe that people don’t fit into boxes and in order to support someone in a way that is useful, it is important to integrate different ideas and ways of understanding the individual’s experiences. Some of the ideas that I draw on are from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, systemic family therapy and Open Dialogue. I feel fortunate to work as a clinical psychologist and continue to value the opportunity to learn from the people I have been able to support.
Experience
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Liverpool; my Master’s in Psychological Research Methods at Birkbeck College, University of London; and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leeds. I have experience working in a number of contexts with a variety of service user groups and professional teams in mental health, physical health and social care settings in the UK and Australia. I have recently moved back to London after six years living in Sydney. During this time, I have completed ongoing research, published a book for aspiring clinical psychologists and established independent practice. I have also facilitated forums when members of local communities can come together to discuss various topics from a psychological perspective.
Registration
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in Australia.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
