About me

Do you find yourself putting others' comfort before your own, even when it hurts? Maybe you feel like you never quite fit in, or worry about being ‘too much’ or a burden. You might feel lost in who you are, always adapting but still not fully seen. When everyday life feels like a challenge, it’s easy to start questioning yourself — but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Hi, I’m Saida (she/her), pronounced like the drink cider. I’m a neurodivergent, neurodiversity-affirming, and sex-positive counsellor offering online therapy for adults across the UK.

I specialise in working with people exploring ADHD, autism, or AuDHD — whether diagnosed, self-identified, or just beginning to wonder. You’re welcome to show up exactly as you are. Together, we’ll explore your experiences in a way that feels natural and supportive.

As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I bring both lived experience and clinical understanding. Many clients come feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure where to begin. You might be navigating identity, relationships, sensory needs, or challenges around sexuality. Therapy can support you in reconnecting with yourself and feeling more at ease in your own mind and body.

My approach is flexible and supportive. Whether you prefer talking, reflecting, doing, or just being, we’ll work in a way that fits how you process the world.

If you don’t hear back within a few days, do check your spam folder, I reply to every enquiry by email: counselling@saidamelgar.com

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a BSc(Hons) in Psychology. My training includes Person-Centred, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed approaches.

I’m a trained National Autism Trainer through Anna Freud and AT-Autism, and have completed extensive additional training in neurodivergence, including ADHD. I bring a neurodiversity-affirming approach to all of my work.

I also currently work as a counsellor in sexual health services.

I’m committed to lifelong learning and have experience in a range of mental health roles across the NHS, charities, and community organisations, working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
