About me
As an Integrative therapist, I aim to help you to find a better way to understand the problems, patterns and behaviours that have brought you to counselling and work alongside you as you make sense of what’s going on for you and move towards the changes you want to make in your life. My main role is to listen- offering empathy and acceptance as we work together- and hope to build a secure, honest relationship with you where you feel safe enough to be open and authentic with me.
You are at the centre of this process and I aim to offer you a safe and confidential space: one where you feel comfortable to open up to me about what is going on for you. It is not my role to tell you what to do or offer advice, but to support you while you find your own answers.
What I can offer:
I specialise in working with adults as well as children and young people who are experiencing a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, stress, abuse, issues around sexuality, attachment, disordered eating, trauma, relationship problems, family issues and low self-esteem. If in doubt, just ask me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP registered counsellor with a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am trained in the person-centred model but am flexible in my approach to work conductively with each client and their individual needs. We are all, after all, unique, and my relationship with you needs to reflect that.
I have regular CPD (continued professional development) to maintain and enhance my skills and knowledge.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
