About me

My Practice

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Neil and I am a BACP Registered Counsellor. My practice is a short walk from Walthamstow Station and easy to reach from various parts of London. I do also have some online slots available.

I trained at CPPD in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. My training allows me to utilise a range of different psychotherapeutic traditions to best support your unique and individual needs, whilst also providing a warm and friendly atmosphere for our sessions. I have years of experience with clients from various backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and gender identities. I work in both long and short-term ways in a method that is best for you.

Where to begin?

It can be nerve-wracking starting counselling. Trying to figure out what is going on in your life may feel difficult to identify alone. You might feel anxious and depressed, with life feeling empty. Relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and previous trauma could be troubling you. Maybe work stress or family issues are impacting your day to day life? It could be that something not mentioned above is affecting you and you would like to work through this.

This is when counselling can help. By working together, we can uncover and understand what is going on and begin to figure out how to manage and enable you to live a more fulfilling life.

What working with me will look like

I have seen the positive impact of counselling on people’s lives. I place a huge importance on providing a safe and supportive space to explore what is going on for you. All our work will be confidential, and I feel a sense of privilege in listening to your story. Together we can then begin to unlock your potential and make sense of your struggles.

Our first few sessions will be focused on getting to know each other, understanding what is going on for you and thinking of what we may look to work on. I will help you to feel at ease and create a trusting bond between us. Then we can start to work through what may be troubling you and identify ways and skills to help you through your struggles.

Counsellors don’t always get things right and I really encourage your feedback if you feel you would like us to work slightly differently.

Why Choose Humanistic Counselling?

Humanistic Counselling can facilitate the following:

  • Promote Self-Awareness and Self-Acceptance: Explore your thoughts and feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Gain a deeper understanding of yourself and embrace who you truly are.
  • Foster Personal Growth and Self-Actualisation: Pursue your goals and aspirations with confidence. This approach empowers you to reach new heights and live a more meaningful life.
  • Enhance Emotional Well-Being: Experience a reduction in stress, anxiety, and depression. Improve your overall emotional health by expressing your emotions freely and finding clarity.
  • Improve Relationships: Strengthen your connections with others. Develop better communication skills and enhance your empathy, leading to more satisfying and supportive relationships.
  • Encourage Authenticity and Congruence: Align your actions with your true self. Live authentically and enjoy a life that is consistent with your values and beliefs.
  • Develop Coping Strategies: Build resilience and learn effective ways to handle life’s challenges. Understand your strengths and leverage them to overcome adversity.
  • Support Autonomy and Empowerment: Take control of your life. Make decisions with confidence and take responsibility for your actions, leading to a greater sense of empowerment.
  • Enhance Creativity and Problem-Solving: Approach problems with fresh perspectives. Discover innovative solutions and unleash your creative potential.

About me

Before my training I worked in a range of sectors including construction and hospitality. I also worked in the charity sector as a mental health support worker and with young adults after a cancer diagnosis. My experience in these fields instilled in me the importance empathy, compassion and self-care hold in this world as well as the experience of supporting a wide range of people. My training further developed these core-beliefs.

I look forward to meeting and working with you

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
