About me

I am able to offer a confidential and sensitive therapeutic service in a quiet and comfortable therapy suite at Foxes’ Retreat, to support you through life events or circumstances which you may be finding to be challenging. We don’t always have a smooth path in life, and counselling can allow us to shift our thinking and find our way through challenging times with support along our route.

Qualifications:

Psychotherapist,  MBACP.
Master Practitioner of CBT, accredited by the British Psychological Society, as well as offering Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I am trained in the Person-Centred Approach, and I work flexibly to suit individuals’ needs. I have a particular interest in finding individual strategies for clients to better manage the ups and downs in life. We all work much better together than we do alone; we are social creatures by nature.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, I found that offering online therapy through ZOOM helped many to maintain connections in difficult times. I am happy to offer this post-pandemic, if this way of working is most appropriate for you. Face to face therapy is also available, in the Therapy Suite here at Foxes’ Retreat, for those who can more easily travel to us.

Each one of us is different; there is no single one-size-fits-all answer for any of us.

I am happy to arrange a time to discuss the best approach for you to gain a healthier perspective and inner strength to live your life less stressfully.

We are only a phone call or email away.

Warmest wishes,

Myszka

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (MBACP).

As well as more recently specialising in working with clients with Autism and ADHD, I have worked in a mentoring and coaching capacity for over 25 years.  I have deepened my training in the last five years to include Person-Centred counselling, ACT and CBT.

As a writer myself, I also hold Coaching for Writing sessions, and I am skilled in the use of Therapeutic Writing to explore with clients who prefer this medium.

I am also a Psychometric Tester, registered with the British Psychological Society. I am available for Autism and ADHD assessment days - please see my website for more details.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I also have a particular interest in working with clients with lipoedema. This is an area which receives little support from the NHS even now it is recognised as a chronic degenerative condition. It can have serious mental health implications.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

There is a small step (4 inches) up to the bathroom from the Courtyard at Foxes' Retreat. I would need to check wheelchair width against doors to be absolutely sure, which I would happily do.
