About me

I am currently available to take on new clients and normally work from Tuesday to Friday, with some evenings available for clients who work during the day. I would describe my practice as integrative and person-centred and I value the person-hood of each individual, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, disability and can also work with ASD.

I work in a non-judgemental way, with the "person", not the diagnosis. I draw on many approaches and encourage the use of creative materials as an aid to expressing emotions and explaining situations.

I have been practicing for 15 years and provide a safe supportive environment for in person or face2face counselling, by video link or by telephone. I work with trauma, PTSD as well as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues and have valuable experience helping victims of abuse.

I value you the autonomy of the person, allowing space and time for feelings to be recongnised and expressed.

It is only the person that knows where the pain lies. My work helps people understand what needs to heal and how that healing can be achieved. I occaisionally use Mindfulness, but only when a client finds this helpful. I provide a warm, comfortable and confidential environment for feelings to be shared and expressed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started to train as a counsellor in 2006 and have an advanced Diploma in Integrative counselling. (2008)

I hold a qualification in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for the treatment of trauma. (Level 1) (2011)

I gained a BSc(Hons) in Person-centred couselling. (2016-18)

I recently gained a certificate on Understanding Autism (2023-2024)

I receive regular supervision from  a well informed supervisor and have in the past worked for several Charities: Lifecentre, Savanna, Shinewater counselling, St Barnabas Hospice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
