About me

Hi, thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

I am a highly experienced, skilled and established counsellor. Alongside my private practice work, I am also employed part-time as a Lead Therapist for a Charity. My previous work experience has included working for a statutory service in the NHS, Charities and various EAP's companies.

I offer my clients a safe, private, confidential and non-judgemental space to help process and explore any difficulties or issues you may have.

Finding the right therapist for you is vital, the therapeutic relationship is very important. This is why I offer a free telephone/zoom consultation to answer your questions and to help elevate any anxieties you may have around the counselling process.

You will find that I am a very down to earth, warm and approachable person, who wants you to feel as comfortable as possible.  I also want to reassure you that therapy is not always a deep, traumatic and tearful experience. There can also be laughter and joy.  It is my job to look after you and make sure you get what you need out of our sessions. It is your choice and your journey!

I provide therapy face to face, online and telephone. My therapy room is in a lovely, private building in a small business park, 5mins from M6 and A580 East Lancs Road. There is secure onsite parking.

If you have any questions, or you would like to discuss anything that you cannot see on here, then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I would class myself as a pure integrative therapist. Which means I have trained and gained stand-alone qualifications in several different counselling approaches - not a combined course that only has one module on a certain theory/approach.

My main specialism is around trauma and abuse. However, this is the umbrella term which covers all other aspects of work, including depression, anxiety, work related stress, eating disorders, confidence, relationship issues, addictions, family issues, gender, self-esteem, suicidal ideation and self-harm, etc, etc

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
