About me

I understand the courage it takes to reach out, and as such, I offer you commitment, warmth, acceptance and a confidential space to support you in your journey. I believe that our individual experiences are unique and therefore my focus will be solely on you and your needs.

As a qualified, registered and accredited therapist -MBACP (Accred), it is my hope that together, we can seek to make sense of your experiences that have led you here today, and to help you find your solutions to bring about the changes you wish for.

I work with individuals (18+) from many backgrounds within private practice. I am experienced in working with a wide range of psychological difficulties including anxiety and stress, depression, grief and loss, abuse, trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, FND, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, self-harm, life changes, family issues, identity and relationship breakdowns.

Whatever your circumstances or difficulties, I offer professional counselling and psychotherapy with sensitivity and without judgement.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years with neurological and developmental disorders with adults in a variety of Health, End-of-life and Social care settings; and with Children with social, emotional and mental health needs within Specialist Education. This has provided me with experience and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorders, Global Developmental Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson's, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.

How counselling can help:

I am fundamentally humanistic in my counselling approach, I believe that everyone has an instinctive drive towards growth and psychological integrity and each of us have the resources within ourselves for this, provided the conditions are right.

Therapy has the capacity for change, providing you with the conditions and essential elements that can clear the way, for greater well-being, functioning and meaning in your life. The relationship between the counsellor and client is often where these changes begin. Finding the right counsellor that you can relate to, feel listened and heard, is hugely important. Having the right connection will enable for you to be yourself and ultimately get the most out of therapy.

What to expect in your first session:

An initial consultation is a full length session and provides an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of what you want to work on and to explore together how this can be achieved. It will involve learning about your current situation and your aims and expectations of counselling and discuss any questions you may have.

My practice:

I provide both short term and long term counselling and psychotherapy, face-to-face and online.

My practice is based in Central Tonbridge from a comfortable and discreet office, within close walking distance from the train station and nearby car parks. It is accessible from surrounding areas of Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone.

Contact:

Please feel free to contact me with your enquiry or to make an appointment, by phone, email or text. I aim to respond to new client enquiries within 24 hours (Mon-Fri).

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
