About me

I currently have availability to accept new face-to-face or online clients within my private practice.

Hi, I’m Lisa, a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with individuals. If you are seeking support, experiencing feelings of dissatisfaction in your life or relationships, grappling with the weight of your past or with the challenges of depression or anxiety. I provide a safe and empathic environment to help you explore your concerns.

My practice is conveniently located within Edwinstowe House, easily accessible by car or public transportation with complimentary parking. Appointments are available from Tuesday to Saturday, face to face, via Zoom or the telephone.

For the previous two years as a counsellor and psychotherapist, my primary focus has been on supporting individuals who have been impacted by sexual abuse or incest. Additionally, I have experience providing therapy to young adults within an educational setting. In my previous role within the health and social care sector, I honed my expertise in addressing a wide range of mental health needs, including those of adults with ASD and ADHD.

I firmly believe in the healing power of a secure therapeutic relationship, which I am committed to developing with you. I offer you my authentic self and look forward to discovering your authentic self. I work with the mind and the body, believing that memories are not just stored in our mind but also held within our body and that the most significant level of healing occurs when these aspects of self become integrated.

I have a particular interest in both abuse and neurodiversity. My therapeutic approach encompasses a broad spectrum of concerns, which include but are not limited to ADHD, anxiety, self-harm and suicide ideation, depression, challenges with self-esteem, grief and loss, different types of relationships and kinks, exploring gender identity, difficulties in relationships, parenting issues, post-natal depression, experiences of sexual abuse or incest, issues related to coercive control, domestic abuse, and violence.

For a comprehensive list, please refer to my areas of specialisation.

To cater to your specific needs, I offer long-term, medium-term, and short-term therapy, available both remotely and in person. I offer a fifteen-minute remote initial consultation, allowing us to assess whether we would be a good fit for working together. If you require further information or have any questions, please don't hesitate to call, text, or email me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
