About me

At times it can be difficult to understand our thoughts and feelings as they can seem overwhelming, we can feel uncomfortable and stuck with our thoughts going round and round.  This may be because of things you have experienced recently or from your childhood that you are struggling to make sense of or to overcome.

By understanding our thoughts and feelings we feel better, anxiety and other emotions feel less intense, I will help you learn new ways of managing them so you start to feel that you have control back over your minds and bodies.

By providing a warm, safe space you can explore issues from your past or distressing, troubling events that have happened recently.  Clients tell me they feel really listened to and understood and have gained a better understanding of themselves in the sessions they have had with me.

I am able to draw on my experience of working with NHS clients, university students, student counsellors and EAP providers.  I work with men and women who have had difficult childhood experiences,  I also work with grief and loss.

I work mostly with people who experience anxiety and  panic, ADHD, diagnosed and undiagnosed, finding ways to understand and manage the impact of these experiences.

I work a lot with men who are struggling to identify their feelings where those feelings have had a negative impact on their lives and relationships.

I work via Zoom or Teams, I also provide some limited spaces for face to face work.

So that you are sure I am the right counsellor to work with, I offer a free introductory 15 minute call via phone/via Zoom before you commit to booking sessions.

I am a BACP registered counsellor and I draw on a range of approaches focusing on you the client and your experience rather than the symptoms you are experiencing.

I am trained Trauma Informed Practitioner

I work with a range of clients in areas such as:

Depression

Anxiety

Panic

Childhood experiences

Domestic Abuse

Grief and loss

Working from home, you do need to be aware that I share my home with pets, in case of allergies, I am happy for you to have your pets in the session via Zoom.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
