Julie North MBACP (Accredited/Registered)

About me
I provide confidential counselling and psychotherapy, short and long term, in a quiet rural setting. I have twenty five years' experience of working with individuals and couples and of providing supervision for other practitioners.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified with a Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling & Human Relations from Exeter University in 1991. During the years since, I have completed further training in Family Therapy, Family Systems Therapy (Family Constellations), Asperger Syndrome, Eco-Therapy, Mindfulness and Somatic Trauma Therapy. I have recently completed a Certificate in Creative Writing with Aberystwyth University. I have a Certificate in Supervision from the London Gestalt Centre.
At present I work in private practice and as an associate counsellor with a national employee assistance organisation and other organisations offering short-term counselling services. I have had experience of working in the voluntary sector, further education and with the Health Service, where I worked as a counsellor with parents of children referred to a Child Psychology Service, and as a counsellor and trainer in interpersonal skills and stress management for an NHS Staff Well-being Service. I have also had considerable experience as a tutor and trainer in counselling skills and counselling for colleges in both Cornwall and Wales.
