About me
I am one of the few dual-qualified Chartered Clinical Psychologists in the UK, with over 10 years of training and experience in a variety of NHS settings. I’m passionate about treating people as individuals and providing psychological therapies that recognise our unique individual differences. I am the Clinical Director of Konnect Clinical Psychology and deliver award winning training, consultation, supervision, and therapy, across the East of England. I currently offer psychological therapies to young people, adults, and couples from our beautiful locations in Newmarket, Cambridge, and online.
Training, qualifications & experience
Alongside my independent work, I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. I lead psychological services supporting people living with trauma, depression, anxiety, and long-term health conditions, across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Suffolk. I've previously worked in a range of mental health services with adolescents and adults and have extensive experience of supporting individuals with neurodiversity including ADHD and autism. I train Clinical Psychologists at the University of East Anglia and have appeared on MQ as an expert on anxiety.
I continually update my training in the most-effective evidence based psychological models and contribute to the advancement of psychological practice by publishing my research internationally. In addition to my doctoral level training, I've completed postgraduate qualifications in Health Psychology and Evidence Based Psychological Treatments, and completed further training from world leading experts in Trauma Focussed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy, CBT, and Psychodynamic Therapies.
“The title of Chartered Psychologist is legally recognised and reflects only the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise.”

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Additional information
I choose to strictly limit the number of clients I work with at a time, allowing me to deliver high quality, individualised therapy for each person I see. I attend regular supervision, use only approved evidence-based approaches, and am legally required by the HCPC to keep my clinical skills up to date with ongoing professional development.
My fees are individualised to each person I support and vary based on the complexity of the work, length of session, and number of client’s being supported. The cost of each session will be agreed in your initial free consultation and will not change during our work together.
I am a recognised provider for several insurers including Aviva and WPA. If you are self-employed, you may wish to consider HMRC's latest guidance on wellbeing expenses which is summarised on my website.

Further information
I recognise that no two people are the same, meaning the therapy I offer is completely individualised to each person’s needs. The duration of the therapy depends on the nature and complexity of the difficulties and goals for the work. In the first few sessions, we will work together to understand your difficulties in a way that makes sense for you. We will then identify what you’d like to achieve during our work and plan the most helpful way to achieve your goals. Throughout the therapy, we will continuously develop a better shared understanding of your difficulties and learn strategies you can use to help you reconnect with the most important things in your life. Importantly, you will also learn skills to protect against similar difficulties in the future and maintain your progress independently. During therapy, we will frequently review your progress to make sure things are moving in the right direction, and to discuss if there is anything that you would like to change about the work.
If you’d like to know more about my work, please have a look at my website and if you think we might be a good fit to work together it would be great to hear from you. I offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video and will always offer you some time to go away and think about whether you would like to book in a session without being put on the spot.
I know how daunting and personal finding the right support can be, so I'd like to wish you the very best in your journey.
Joe
