About me

I am fully qualified and accredited as a counsellor/psychotherapist. I am also a fully qualified CBT therapist.

I deliver a therapeutic relationship that is supportive, challenging, and compassionate.

I draw upon practices that have been shown by research and experience to be effective.

I also have specialist experience, training, and professional qualifications in working with children and young people, though I work with all age-ranges over 12 years of age.

I also work as a freelance Clinical Director for a major mental health service in Somerset, as well as a private supervisor for therapists. In the past and currently I have supervised therapists for mental health services, such as Young Somerset, The Sanctuary, Bristol Mind, Off the Record, and St. Peter's Hospice.

I can draw upon a vast range of different therapeutic approaches, and tailor these to your needs.

Depending on what you are looking for, we can use formats such as talking therapy, ACT, CBT, visualisations, bodywork, rituals, and/or art to help you explore in a way that works best for you.

I have over 10 years experience in the field.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I have worked in mental health for over a decade. I worked full-time at Positive Step, North Somerset as a counsellor for adults, and then worked at Off the Record, Bristol as a therapist for young people, a supervisor for therapists, and a Team Leader, project developer, and trainer in the organisation. In the past, I also worked for Swiis Healthcare, Bristol as a senior support worker, helping adults with learning difficulties, and before that I worked as a care assistant for BUPA Healthcare in a Bristol Nursing Home alongside people living with dementia.

As well as having an established private practice for counselling and supervision, I currently work for Young Somerset as a freelance Clinical Director. I supervise advocates at Bristol Mind as an external supervisor. And finally, I am also offering mentoring & supervision for NHS practitioners using ProReal in the NHS.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
