About me

About me

I am a BACP Accredited professional, qualified counsellor providing a counselling service Just outside cullybackey in area of Ballymena. I have always been interested in the helping profession from a young age and always had a strong sense that talking about our feelings would be more powerful than living negatively and insecurely.

I am a qualified couples counsellor also and interested in this field of the helping relationship. We all come from different family systems and dynamics from childhood and I believe that these systems impact on how we relate to different relationships in our life.

"At the end of the day, the goals are simple: safety and security." - Jodi Rell

I offer a safe, secure, empathetic and understanding environment where together, we can set goals that you feel are best and achievable for you to reach that sense of safety and security. I work as in integrative counsellor which means I use different approaches and techniques to suit your individual needs.

How counselling can help

Talking about our issues and problems can be daunting and nerve-wrecking but I can assure you, you will be provided with a space that is safe, comfortable, non-judgemental, understanding and confidential. Out of 168 hours in the week, setting aside one hour for you will hopefully lead to you gaining more self-worth and self-care by learning your value to allow more than one hour in getting to know yourself and your autonomy.

I am a member of a governing body in counselling called the BACP. I follow and adhere to their guidelines regarding my ethical practice. I continually participate in enhancing my knowledge through further learning and techniques that are helpful in meeting clients' needs.

I offer one to one counselling in a confidential setting.

What to expect in the first session

In the first session I will tell you more about how I work. I will also hear some more about you and together we can discuss effective ways to guide you towards any goals you may have or create these together. I work client led which means that you will lead the sessions about what you wish to talk about safely.

Please don't hesitate to call me where you will speak directly to me and we can arrange a time and date that suits you if you are satisfied with our phone consultation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
