About me

I work as a Child, Adolescent, Parent and Adult Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I am fully registered member of BACP and accredited UKCP member. In the past worked as a Psychotherapist in schools across London alongside my private practice. As a result I have developed my own unique approach to working therapeutically, integrating a variety of different modalities, such as psychodynamic, humanistic, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitazation and Reprocessing), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT),  to meet each person’s specific needs and expectations. Each person is an individual and what works for one person in therapy may not necessarily suit someone else.

I understand how to work with children to get beneath words using art, play and sand tray therapy to support the expression of feelings when it is hard to find the words or is difficult to talk about. Teenagers, young people and adults often prefer to talk about their feelings, but also use creative media to express themselves and find them beneficial to my style of therapy.

I work with a wide range of issues which you might come across in your personal, family and work life. When you find yourself “stuck”, unsure about your life direction, unhappy about relationships, generally anxious or worried about your children, I can offer a confidential therapeutic support that will help you to make sense of these emotional and relational experiences.

Through the relationship between us, I aim to help you discover and develop new ways of approaching life; with less influence from the old patterns that have contributed to your distress and suffering in the present.

My work is informed by the latest neuroscientific research, whilst also taking into consideration my clients’ age, cultural and ethnic origins, as well as religious beliefs, sexual orientation and reasons for referral.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Getting started:

In the first meeting we will discuss your hopes in therapy and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling and psychotherapy.
If you’re a parent, or parents, seeking therapy for your child, I will meet with you without your child and we will discuss your concerns in detail. I will ask you about your child’s development and current functioning and explain how I work and how to talk your child about therapy.

You may set up your first appointment by sending me an email with a brief description of your situation together with any other relevant information or questions.

Or call me for a free 20 minute phone consultation where we can briefly discuss the reasons for you seeking counselling or psychotherapy and the best format for this to take place.
