About me
I take a relational approach to therapy and work in a down-to-earth and warm way. Our work together might include exploring difficult feelings or thoughts in the present and how they may connect to past experiences and relationships. We will work together to begin to find your own meanings and to find ways to live more in keeping with what you value and want from your life.
I have worked for over a decade in the field of mental health, in the third sector and in specialist services in the NHS. I draw on different psychological and psychoanalytic theories and approaches, working collaboratively with you to meet your needs above all.
I will respond to you as a whole human being within your own unique circumstance, for example considering the context of your family, community and cultural heritage. My framework attends to the ways in which different forms of oppression impact your wellbeing. This means honouring some of the ways you have coped with struggles rather than labelling them as 'maladaptive' or 'problems'.
I will encourage you to look beyond strategies and tools and instead to begin to foster a deeper curiosity towards yourself. I draw on somatic and ecological approaches to help connect with your body and nervous system, as well as with the natural world.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over a decade of experience working in the field of mental health and have worked as a psychotherapist in a range of settings. Alongside my private practice, I work as a psychologist in a specialist NHS service in a community mental health team.
I have completed a doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych) and am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
