About me
I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist and supervisor and have been in practice since 2010. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my experience involves working with young people including children diagnosed with ASD, adults (including adults diagnosed with ASD), couples and families. I am a qualified clinical supervisor and supervise the work of pastoral staff in schools across Poole. I run my private practice from Westbourne in Bournemouth offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to work.
Working with Trauma
A lot of my work has involved working with trauma. Whether that be a recent life event, i.e. death of a loved one, an accident or witnessing a traumatic event, or, an event(s) that happened many years ago and has been surpressed such as childhood abuse. Such events lead to the adoption of coping mechanisms such as drugs, alcohol, sex, self-harm, OCD and suicidal ideation. Opening up and talking about these traumatic events can feel scary and impossible to put into words. Some clients have preferred to communicate their stories through their dreams, poems and artwork and they feel safe using this metaphor.
My work starts with the principle that it is all about you, your struggles, your uniqueness and exploring the best way for you to move forward.

2010 - Dorset Action on Abuse (‘From Hurting 2 Healing’). I worked there for 7 years as a counsellor/supervisor working with adult survivors of childhood abuse
2012 - 'Acts Fast' the charity set up to help families affected by sexual abuse - Family and Young Person’s counsellor
2012 - SARC (The Sexual Assault Referral Centre) - crisis support worker, Bournemouth Police Station. I worked with the Safer Schools Team (SSCT) delivering presentations to secondary schools teaching the children how to keep safe
2013 - Mosaic the bereavement charity that works with children and families that have been affected by the loss of a parent, sibling, family member
2014 - School counsellor in an infant, junior and secondary school working with children aged from 4 to 18 years

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

£45 for a 60 min session for adults and young people (11+)
£50 for a 60 min session for couples
£55 for a 60 min session for families
(Concessions can be made for self-financing students and those that are struggling financially. This can be discussed at the initial assessment).
