Head Agenda offers short and long term therapy to individuals and couples who feel they need a little extra support. Head Agenda is located in Leeds City Centre. Our clinics are based at 18 and 28 Park Place. All our therapy rooms offer a comfortable, safe, discreet space to talk.

About us

Mandy Nichols and Juliet Thornton are the business owners of Head Agenda. They are BACP qualified accredited, highly skilled psychotherapists, who identified a need for a clinic which could be trusted to provide good quality therapy by a number of highly trained BACP members. It was from their experience working with clients who expressed the difficulty in finding therapists available at the times convenient to them and not knowing what to look for in terms of their qualifications to assure them of a well skilled practitioner. Head Agenda makes it easier for clients at a time when they are possibly feeling overwhelmed. We will allocate a therapist at the times convenient to you with the peace of mind knowing they are more than qualified for the task.

Training, qualifications & experience

Not all counsellors/psychotherapists are the same. Qualifications range from weekend online courses to Post Graduate Diplomas at University level.

All our counsellors are qualified to a high standard. Our therapists have University qualifications. Most of our counsellors are accredited or are working to accreditation.  Accredited is classed as the gold standard, which means they have satisfied the BACP with case studies and demonstrated their theoretical understanding, with a minimum of 500 hours clinical work. Each of our therapists are committed to continued professional development and regular supervision in line with the recommendations of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
