About me

"What you seek is seeking you." - Rumi

Welcome. My name is Hayriye (Hayrish). I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.

Whether you are going through an anxious period of your life or struggling to cope day to day alone can be very isolating and painful place. My aim is to help you put a short term and long term plan together to steer through those difficulties so you can manage your life ..

How therapy can help?

I work creatively with body and mind with EMDR skills to track and relief repressed emotions in the body.  Our body displays unexpressed emotions/trauma somatically in different parts of the body to give us warning signals such as anxiety, IBS, migraine, backache, breathing difficulties etc. so we can pay attention.

Therapy can offer a new perspective, the opportunity for personal growth and in-depth self-discovery into difficult thoughts, feelings, and belief systems that we may not be aware of or may find too complicated to discuss with loved ones. My role as a therapist is to help you understand yourself better. In the sessions I create a safe, confidential and non-judgemental setting in which you can explore and freely express your current and past difficulties that may be causing feelings of ‘stuck-ness’ or difficulty to move forward in your life. As a therapist, one of my main priorities is to strengthen your ability to make healthy decisions and become an autonomous individual.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am on MSc year in Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapy at Metanoia Institute/ Middlesex University. I am registered member of the BACP/ UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and abide by their Code of Ethics. I offer both long and short-term therapy in English and Turkish. I currently offer Face to Face sessions and online through Zoom/Microsoft Teams and Phone.

I have been a counsellor at Metanoia’s in-house Low-cost Counselling Services (MCPS), during my time there I have taken part in research with clients to see how effective counselling is for a year. At present, I am working for Richmond Aid Counselling services for people with mental disabilities; I also worked for Headstrong Counselling services for young people and clients from the NHS over a year.

My extensive experience has allowed me to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, I will bring this knowledge and experience with me to the work we do together. I can provide help and experience with many problems, some of which include severe mental health issues, depression, trauma, anxiety, racial trauma, and identity issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

My Approach

In my sessions, I aim to be creative in my approach; I use metaphors and imagination to explore presenting issues and difficulties whether it is short-term solution focused or longer-term psychotherapy. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) skills to work with trauma when the individual ready to process their trauma.

My primary work from a relational perspective using TA puts emphasis on the in-depth exploration of unconscious dynamics both out there in the world and in the sessions between us – this enables deeper processes for change to take place. The aim of our work together is to develop the full capacity for autonomy which will allow you to deal with the events life throws at you; I aim to help you live a better, more fulfilled life.
