About me

I am a warm, friendly and empathetic Psychodynamic Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I am an Accredited member of the BACP, with well over a decade of experience.

I can offer you a safe and confidential space, where we can work together to achieve your goals.

I am reliable and dedicated in helping you to alleviate your distress and suffering and look towards a brighter future. I always work sensitively and ethically.

Practice description:

My approach will help you with your immediate symptoms. I will seek to help you discern, understand and gain more control over unconscious patterns in how you think, feel and relate to yourself and your relationships with others.

I employ free association in my practice – which involves you telling me about what feels important currently and thoughts that are occupying your mind, often they can be thoughts or feeling that are overwhelming. Together we will try to articulate and understand your psychology. This new self-awareness and understanding can help reduce stresses, anxiety and lead to greater levels of confidence and self-esteem.

My first session:

The first meeting would be an initial consultation, which can last up to 90 minutes. It’s an opportunity for us to think about what brings you to counselling, what you would like to gain from counselling and answer any questions you may have.

The initial consultation will allow you to feel more informed about counselling in general. After the initial consultation, you can take a bit of time to decide if counselling is preferable.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

‘I have had a collegial relationship with Sunny since 2014. He has huge integrity and consideration for others, as well as being sensitive and carefully introspective while not losing sight of his analytic bearings. He has a broad understanding of the process of therapy and is creative in how he applies his knowledge. My understanding is that people who work with him appreciate and value him.
