About me

What kind of counselling do I deliver?

Humanistic more often short-term, yet also good to work more long-term (going on the client’s individual needs.) I work in a more person-centred style out of the humanistic modalities, with a clear focus and regular reviews. My Supervisor is also from the Humanistic modality.

What are my areas of speciality?

Mental Health Conditions, especially Depression and Anxiety, Addiction, Personal development, Relationship, Family and Bereavement/Loss. I work with clients from the age of 18, covering all conditions, life situations and struggles.

Training, qualifications & experience

Before completing the Humanistic Counselling Degree. I have been working as a Registered Mental health Nurse in acute adult general psychiatric wards. I have worked in the NHS and in the private sector from 2004.

This has given me a great deal of experience, in working with a wide range of mental health conditions and significant life events.

I completed my degree in a two-year placement with The Awareness Centre. Where I had a contract with Iapt-us in the NHS. I found this highly rewarding, working with such a vast number of clients and a wide range of diversity.

I worked short term 6-12 sessions in Iapt-us for 2years, and offer working with clients opened ended depending on the client’s needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
