About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years of post-qualification experience across NHS and charity settings, including the community, remotely and hospitals. Some of my posts have included being attached to GP practices, working with neurocognitive problems, being the lead Psychologist in a Major Trauma Centre and working with survivors of torture in a human rights organisation. I have particular expertise working with the effects of trauma both physically and mentally, rehabilitation, the challenges of asylum seekers and refugees and psychotherapy generally.
My approach to psychotherapy centres our relationship. We may make explicit plans about what to change, though often a deeper understanding itself gives relief. I will stay attentive to how you experience our relationship and how that relates to your symptoms or problems.
Training, qualifications & experience
Beyond Clinical Psychology training, I have developed my practice in psychodynamic therapy through specialist supervision and learning.
I also have substantial experience helping people with trauma through approaches like Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
