Areas of Focus
- Anxiety – We can explore the origins of your anxiety, understand its function in your life and develop personalised strategies to reduce its impact on your daily experiences.
- Depression – I provide a space to understand the underlying factors contributing to depression whilst collaboratively building pathways toward healing, self-compassion and renewed possibilityTrauma – Within a safe and supportive environment, we can process difficult emotions at your pace, develop resilience and gradually work toward a sense of integration and wellbeing.
- Relationship Challenges – Whether navigating conflict, communication difficulties, or seeking to understand relationship patterns, our work together can offer insights and practical approaches to connection.
- Shame and Internalised Narratives - Shame can be a profound and isolating experience that cuts to the core of our sense of self. Unlike guilt, which focuses on specific actions, shame tells us that we are fundamentally flawed or unworthy. Together, we'll explore the roots of your shame, understanding how it developed and the protective mechanisms you've created. Our work will focus on developing self-compassion, challenging internalised negative beliefs, and gradually creating a more nurturing internal dialogue. We'll work to transform shame from a source of pain into an opportunity for profound self-understanding and healing.
- Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) – I provide affirming, inclusive support that honours your unique identity and lived experiences. My practice is welcoming to LGBTQ+ individuals, those exploring ethical non-monogamy and people in alternative relationship structures.
My Therapeutic Framework
Therapy is a collaborative journey where my priority is creating a space where you feel truly heard and understood. I believe effective therapy builds from a foundation of trust, empathy, and mutual respect.
My approach integrates several evidence-based modalities, allowing us to draw upon different techniques that resonate with your specific needs and preferences. I value flexibility and responsiveness in the therapeutic process.
Taking the step to seek support can be challenging. I recognise that everyone's story is different, and I'm here to listen without judgement as you navigate your path toward healing and growth.
Training, qualifications & experience
My professional journey includes a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Milton Keynes College and a degree from the University of Northampton. I maintain ongoing professional development across diverse theoretical perspectives and specific areas of practice.
My therapeutic approach integrates several evidence-based modalities:
- Person-centred Counselling: Building a genuine therapeutic relationship based on empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence to facilitate self-awareness and personal growth.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Exploring the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to identify and transform unhelpful patterns.
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Understanding how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence present challenges and relationships.
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT): Helping you develop skills to accept and work with difficult emotions rather than suppressing or fighting against them. DBT focuses on emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and mindfulness - enabling you to move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered.
- Brief Solution-Focused Therapy: A strengths-based, goal-oriented approach that draws upon your internal resources to achieve meaningful change.
- Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD): Providing identity-affirming support that addresses minority stress and fosters self-acceptance.
Professional Experience
My diverse professional background enriches my therapeutic practice. Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals from various backgrounds and life circumstances facing a wide spectrum of challenges.
I've dedicated significant time to supporting young people's mental health, including leading a citywide mental health service. My experience spans private practice and various community-based settings, where I've offered support to diverse communities. My background in the charity sector has provided me with an understanding of social issues and community needs.
Specialised Experience
I also bring specialised training and expertise in:
Autism and ADHD
Identity and sexuality exploration
Understanding and working with internalised shame
Relationship diversity (including ethical non-monogamy)
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical framework and engage in regular clinical supervision to ensure the highest standard of care.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

My Therapeutic Philosophy
I believe that effective therapy recognises each person's individuality - there simply isn't a universal approach that works for everyone. My practice centres on creating a secure, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours with openness.
By working together to understand the underlying patterns and experiences that shape your current challenges, we can develop meaningful pathways toward positive change and greater wellbeing. A key part of this journey is learning to sit with uncomfortable emotions and experiences rather than constantly trying to suppress or escape them. Many of us spend enormous energy trying to push away difficult feelings - through overworking, isolation or other coping mechanisms that ultimately drain our resources. Therapy offers a space to gradually learn acceptance, to understand that unwanted feelings are part of our human experience, and to develop more compassionate, constructive ways of moving through life's challenges.
Beyond Therapy
My lived experience as a queer and disabled person has shaped my values of empathy, inclusivity, and resilience. These experiences inform my therapeutic approach and deepen my commitment to creating a truly accepting space for all clients.
Beyond my professional life, I enjoy pop culture, music, kindness and American reality TV.
