About me
Hello, I’m Gareth. I work extensively with queer, trans, neurodivergent, or other folks who have always felt a bit 'different'. Often, my clients are navigating the specific challenges of masking, burnout, internalised shame or exploring their identity and relationships. If you are looking for a therapist who gets it -someone who can hold space without judgment and walk beside you as you grow into self-acceptance - I am here to help.
My practice is built on compassion, curiosity and working together. I provide a fundamentally identity-affirming and anti-oppressive service that celebrates your unique way of being. I also have lived experience as a queer, neurodivergent and disabled person, which deeply informs my values of empathy and inclusivity. Whether we are processing past trauma, managing anxiety or exploring Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (including ethical non-monogamy and polyamory), we will work collaboratively to help you build healthier relationships and a kinder relationship with yourself.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified, registered and BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor. My formal education includes a Level 5 Edexcel Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision and a degree from the University of Northampton. I undertake CPD regularly to stay up to date on the latest research and issues.
I have been providing therapy for over a decade. Before focusing fully on private practice, my professional journey included working in the charity sector, where I led a city-wide mental health service for young people and worked in community-based settings supporting LGBTQ+ groups.
Because I am an integrative therapist, my approach is primarily Person-Centred, but I draw from a variety of evidence-based models to suit your individual needs. This includes using Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills for emotional regulation, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to challenge unhelpful pattern and Psychodynamic thinking to understand how the past influences your present. I also hold specialised training in supporting individuals with Autism and ADHD in a neurodiversity-affirming way.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Way of Working
Therapy shouldn't be a one-size-fits-all experience. I act as an active listener, nurturing your vulnerability while gently encouraging you to explore new possibilities. I use a secure, encrypted system called Kiku for all scheduling and session management to keep the administrative side as simple as possible for you.
Remote Options
If you prefer to stay in the comfort of your own home, I offer online sessions via Google Meet, as well as telephone therapy via WhatsApp Audio or phone call.
Getting Started
Reaching out is a powerful act of self-care. I offer a free, no-pressure 20-minute introductory chat via video or phone so we can connect and see if my approach is the right fit for you.
