About me

Counselling can be helpful for so many different issues; sometimes it's hard to even know in yourself what's not feeling right. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to talk things through with someone outside of your family or friends, who is neutral and completely accepting of you. I have a calm, informal demeanour and will work at a pace that suits you, short or long term - sometimes clients choose to do 6 sessions then check-in to look at how things are progressing, although we can of course do this at any stage.  I believe you are the expert on you, and I hope to support you in finding a place where you can share in that belief & feel that for yourself, too.

I mainly work in the person-centred approach, using solution focused or creative methods to augment my practice if preferred. I'm led by the client and always place the best interests of those I work alongside at the forefront of all of my work.

My approach honours the therapeutic relationship - I'll be open and genuine with you, and hope to create a trusting space where you feel able to explore anything you bring.

I offer 1:1 counselling for ages 17+, face to face, online via Google Meet or Zoom, or by phone. I also offer Walk & Talk sessions, feel free to ask for more details.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I understand that reaching out and potentially starting work with a therapist can be daunting. I have a dedicated phone line, and all enquiries are strictly confidential.

Please know that by contacting or meeting with me you're under no obligation to continue if you don't feel it's right for you - it's important you feel comfortable with whichever counsellor you choose.

I offer an initial informal chat via phone or online, free of charge, where you may want to ask questions, share what brings you to seek therapy and find out how you'd like to move forward from there. You don't have to make any decision right away, take the time you need.

I look forward to speaking with you.

There's a step at the threshold of the property, at the front doorway. Aside from this, the room is downstairs. Regular buses stop at the end of my road. If coming by car there's parking on the road at my address, a quiet, no-through road.
