About me

Hello. My name is Emily, and I am a HCPC registered, Chartered Counselling Psychologist. I am currently offering remote therapy sessions – for both long and short-term work – based upon your individual needs, preferences, and goals for our time together.

We will typically begin with an assessment, where any current difficulties you may be facing will be explored in the context of your formative, developmental experiences, and current environmental stressors. We will also think about your goals for therapy and any preferences you may have regarding what your therapy might look like.

With this information, we can begin to build a formulation which can guide us towards making the changes you wish to see in your life.

Sessions are 60 minutes and can be conducted via Zoom, Teams, Skype or by telephone, depending on your preference.

As a Counselling Psychologist, I prioritise the therapeutic relationship as a powerful platform for healing, self-acceptance, and growth, and therefore provide a compassionate, warm, and authentic therapy space where you will be able to express yourself without fear of judgment or criticism.

We will work together to explore and make sense of your experiences, at a pace that feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working in NHS, third sector, and independent healthcare settings, with a wide variety of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, loneliness and isolation, depression, bereavement, self-esteem, shame and self-criticism, anger, stress, and the impacts of trauma.

Maybe one of these issues is worrying you, or perhaps you are simply looking to understand yourself and your emotional health a little better. My doctoral training means that I am able to draw upon a range of different therapeutic approaches, including compassion-focused therapy, person-centred therapy, acceptance-commitment therapy, and cognitive-behavioural therapy. My practice is always tailored to your unique and individual needs and preferences.

As well as venturing into private practice, I also currently work part-time with a national charity, in a team providing help and support to people experiencing rough sleeping and other types of homelessness. As a qualified psychologist, I continuously engage in professional development and attend regular clinical supervision to ensure my work is both ethical and effective.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
