About me

Having trained as a integrative counsellor I mainly work in a person centred way, which means I listen to you and help to guide you, exploring your emotions and past experiences. However, if you feel stuck or have so much going on for you, you don’t know where to start, I may use different methodologies or more creative methods. Each session will be tailored towards your needs.

I believe that being positive enhances you and helps you lead a much more contented life  It has been proven that thinking positively improves your happiness, wellbeing, health and can enhance your personal strengths.  However, I also understand that this is much easier said than done, especially if you have been through a lot.  Gently, I will help guide you to more positive thinking, whilst exploring your worries, traumas and issues and also giving practical guidance to help cope with what you are going through.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.  I am registered with the BACP and I have vast experience of working within a college environment dealing with young people.  I have previously worked with Cancer Support helping clients deal with either Cancer themselves or helping their families. I am currently working with Staffordshire Bereavement and Loss, and also Re-Solv, a solvent abuse charity.  I also have experience of counselling within the workplace and also work with people who have suffered trauma.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
