About me

I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering a compassionate, holistic, confidential and professional approach to help you explore what is going on for you, how you experience it and what you would like to do with it.

I primarily work from a person centred perspective, which means you, the client, are at the core of the work, we work at your speed and to your agenda. I will not tell you what you need to do, but support you to find your own answers through our therapeutic relationship. No one knows your needs better than you, but sometimes, we need help to dig deeply enough into ourselves to find the answers. That is what I endeavour to bring – The support to give you the strength to do this.

I have experience working with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem, feeling stuck, relationship issues, depression, suicidal thoughts, abuse and trauma.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Registered member of BACP
  • I have had extensive training in working with sexual abuse and trauma.
  • I offer psychoeducation on trauma, how it affects the brain and how you can work with it.
  • Training never ends and I regularly attend ongoing professional development classes and courses.

I  work with a broad range of issues from stress to sexual abuse for individuals and local charities and similar organisations.

For the past 4 years, I have run confidential Men’s sharing circles and Mixed sharing circles. Learning to express your vulnerability and “holding” others, while they express theirs in a group environment, is very powerful – A deeply healing way to release the guilt & shame that we so often consciously and unconsciously carry.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
