Training, qualifications & experience

As well as working in private practise I have previously worked as a locum senior mental health practitioner and cognitive behavioural therapist for CAMHS services outside of the Warwickshire district.

I also spent 6 years working as the therapy lead for a third sector organisation that works with vulnerable young people. This has enhanced my private work as I work with a rounded approach to therapy, confident in signposting and engaging other services to support families as units to improve their lives and relationships.

I work with a holistic approach to helping young people to overcome the many challenges that the journey into adulthood can present, and support both the young person and their family to manage a variety of issues, from anxiety and depression to self harm and suicidal ideation, behavioural and psychiatric disorders.

Prior to working as a therapist I have 12 years of experience in mental health and health and social care. I have worked both within the NHS and charitable sectors caring for and promoting the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities and mental health issues. I have worked in community teams and secure inpatient units, with experience of psychiatric intensive care through to rehabilitation wards and independent living. I have a vast knowledge and great depth of experience of mental health disorders and treatments and have a solid network within which to refer clients and families for extra support if necessary.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
