About me

As an integrative counsellor, I offer a safe space for you to explore your authentic self. I believe in recognising and honouring the individuality of each client I work with. I have a deep conviction in the inherent harmony of every person I assist. However, the way individuals perceive themselves can be influenced by the expectations set by their primary carers. As a result, people start to believe that they need to adopt specific behaviours in order to feel loved, accepted, and validated. This leads to a life that is influenced by external influences rather than being true to one's authentic self.

Acknowledging the important role of the unconscious mind and previous experiences in influencing current behaviour is essential.

I offer the necessary skills to foster a nurturing and trustworthy relationship with individuals, demonstrating empathy, valuing their unique perspectives, and remaining authentic. This will provide a supportive environment where individuals can openly discuss their past relationships with relatives and other significant others.

Our work together can include setting goals and working towards them, or exploring your past to gain a deeper understanding of unconscious patterns that could be contributing to your overall dissatisfaction.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a psychotherapeutic counsellor with experience working with clients in a variety of settings (in-person, online, and over the phone), I am culturally sensitive and provide counselling in Somali.

I am also a registered member of the BACP, which ensures that I adhere to the highest professional standards.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

In accordance with your presentation and expectations of our work together, I may use CBT and solution-focused therapy to provide effective short-term intervention. If you are seeking therapeutic long-term counselling that delves into the depths of your inner world and explores the unconscious, my approach incorporates psychodynamic and Existential concepts. I also employ Transactional Analysis to facilitate personal growth and assist you in reaching your fullest potential.

If you are also dealing with health-related concerns, I provide a safe space where you may explore your feelings and thoughts. We can also examine the deeper significance behind any physical tension or pain you may be experiencing, with the goal of addressing and resolving the underlying cause.

I provide counselling services in both English and Somali languages.

My practice also includes assisting families.
