About me
I’m a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor (BSc Hons, MBACP) experienced in working with both adults and children/young people (CYP). I offer a warm, culturally sensitive space where clients can explore a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, identity, and life transitions, plus many more.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a variety of therapeutic models, including psychodynamic, CBT, humanistic, and existential approaches, to tailor sessions to your individual needs. I offer a neurodiversity-affirming space and have experience supporting clients with ADHD and Autism, tailoring sessions to meet different ways of processing and relating.
Creativity, spirituality, and self-expression are welcomed in the therapeutic space for those who find them meaningful. These elements can support emotional insight, resilience, and healing, particularly when words alone don’t feel enough. I also use evidence-based and goal-focused tools to support clarity, structure, and change when needed.
Sessions are available in person or online, for both short- and long-term work.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I have also completed specialist training in counselling children and young people (CYP), trauma-informed practice, and creative approaches in therapy.
My integrative practice draws from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), humanistic, and existential models. I support both adults and CYP with a range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, identity, neurodiversity (including ADHD and Autism), trauma, and relationship issues, including marriage and family difficulties.
I have experience working in schools, further education settings, private practice, and community services. My work is culturally sensitive and neurodiversity-affirming, tailored to the needs and strengths of each individual.
In addition to talking therapy, I offer creative methods such as art, drawing, and image-making. These tools can support both verbal and non-verbal expression, helping clients explore feelings that may be difficult to articulate. Whether you process through words or imagery, these approaches create space for reflection, insight, and emotional release.
Faith and spirituality are also welcomed into the therapeutic space when meaningful to you. I work in a way that respects and integrates your personal beliefs, offering a space for grounding, hope, and deeper connection.
I also provide a coaching-informed, goal-focused approach for clients who want practical support in areas such as education, career development, starting a business, family life, relationships, and wellbeing- including weight, lifestyle changes, and confidence building.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
If you come from a Somali background and are carrying emotional pain, whether from past experiences, family conflict, cultural pressure, or feeling caught between two worlds, you don’t have to carry it alone.
I offer trauma-informed counselling in English and Somali, in a space that is safe, non-judgemental, and grounded in culture, faith, and respect for your lived experience.
Whether you're a young person navigating identity, a mother balancing parenting and expectations, or someone caring for a neurodivergent child or elderly parent, this space is for you. Together we can explore challenges like family tension, migration stress, FGM, stigma, intergenerational struggles, and your own emotional well-being.
I also offer premarital counselling that honours faith, culture, and your hopes for the future.
