About me

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Edwinstowe, my private practice is housed within the welcoming Edwinstowe House, providing not only therapeutic services but also convenient and ample parking on the grounds.

I am the proprietor of a private counseling and psychotherapy practice, delivering therapy services across the nation. I collaborate with a network of over 90 therapists, each bringing a wealth of diverse knowledge and expertise to cater to a wide range of individual needs.

For those grappling with the complex tapestry of emotions such as anxiety, depression, feelings of disconnection, self-criticism, or the enduring impact of past traumas, I extend a warm invitation to connect. Together, we embark on a collaborative journey aimed at unraveling the intricacies of your experiences and seeking meaningful answers.

This environment is carefully crafted to encourage open and empathic communication, ensuring that you can articulate your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment in a secure and confidential space.

Central to my practice philosophy is the significance of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client. With commitment, I am dedicated to assisting individuals in realizing their full potential. This involves nurturing personal growth, authenticity, and a profound understanding of one's inner truth.

Approaching our work with a gentle and considerate demeanor, I respect and honor your unique pace. Together, we delve into various aspects and issues in your life that may be hindering your perceived sense of capability. The overarching goal is to illuminate your inherent strengths and natural abilities, fostering a journey of growth, resilience, and self-regulation to effectively address and overcome challenges.

As a practitioner specializing in Humanistic and Integrative therapy, I incorporate a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), and Gestalt. Each approach serves as a valuable tool in our toolkit, providing tailored and comprehensive support to address your specific needs and circumstances.

 What is Integrative Counselling?

As an integrative therapist, I am trained in various evidence-based psychological therapies, allowing me to draw on a combination of counseling approaches. I believe in the uniqueness of each individual, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. Instead, I view you and your life holistically, employing therapeutic techniques tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.

Human psychology is multifaceted, and no single theory provides all the answers. I value the contributions of various theories and aim to integrate them effectively. My approach as an integrative therapist goes beyond focusing solely on what works; I am equally interested in understanding why it works. This enables me to customize therapy to align with your needs, lifestyle, and personality.

What is Cognative Behaviourl Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely practiced and evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The primary goal of CBT is to help individuals recognize and change patterns of thinking and behavior that are negative or unhelpful, leading to improved emotional well-being.

Key principles of CBT include:

Cognitive Restructuring: Identifying and challenging distorted or negative thought patterns and replacing them with more balanced and realistic ones.
Behavioral Activation: Encouraging individuals to engage in positive behaviors and activities that bring about a sense of accomplishment and pleasure, counteracting feelings of depression or anxiety.
Exposure Therapy: Gradual and controlled exposure to situations or stimuli that cause anxiety, allowing individuals to confront and overcome their fears.
Problem-Solving: Developing effective coping strategies and problem-solving skills to manage life's challenges and stressors.
CBT is often a short-term, goal-oriented therapy that can be applied to various mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, and stress. It is collaborative, with the therapist and client working together to identify and address specific concerns. The effectiveness of CBT has been supported by extensive research, making it a widely used and respected therapeutic approach.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
