About me
Hello, I'm Marie, a fully qualified counsellor based in Basingstoke, with a passion for helping others to reach their full potential. I feel that Counselling can bring you so many benefits, and truly can change our lives - My moto is to enable you to create a clearer path which will enable you to have a clearer mind.
I have always had a passion for helping others. This passion initially started within my career as a youth worker. I worked as a youth worker for 15 years in different areas – In this time I developed my knowledge and passion for mental health awareness and well being. Through this passion, I felt that there was a gap in mental health support and therefore underwent the required training to become a qualified counsellor.
Now as a a qualified counsellor I feel that there are many times in our lives where we can feel overwhelmed and distressed; I am here to say that it truly is OK to not be OK. And when things really do get too much, having someone that can truly listen can benefit in so many ways.
I am an integrative counsellor with a person centred foundation; this means that I see everyone as unique and will therefore work to establish your personal needs and experiences to then support you to find the best way through. This also means that I will work at your pace and focusing on what is right for you in the moment.
Through my work, I have worked with a range of different mental health needs such as; Depression, Anxiety, Self-Harm, Suicide, Mood Disorders, Anger Management, Self-Esteem, Self-Confidence, Bereavement as well as Stress.
I am particularly passionate about supporting those whom identify within LGBTQ+ having had over 10 years of professional experience within this field. This work has included working with people around their sexuality and gender identity as well as working with family members/friends of those who identify within LGBTQ+. This work has pushed this passion even more and I pride myself on being there for those within LGBTQ+, including friends and family.
As a BACP member, I am committed to delivering a confidential and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings – This can enable you to gain knowledge and understanding on different aspects of your life, which can also enable you to have more choice and control of your future.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and this therefore means that I adhere to their ethical framework.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
